Organisation profile

The Diploma Centre, as part of the Law Society of Ireland Law School, has provided continuing professional education and training to solicitors for over 20 years. Our primary aim as a legal education service provider is to offer high quality, relevant course content that meets the needs of legal practitioners in Ireland's changing and competitive market for legal services. The Diploma Centre provides postgraduate courses which are also open to a number of suitably qualified professionals.

Training aim

This postgraduate course is aimed at non-law graduates seeking to further their knowledge of law to enhance their current role or those who wish to progress further with a career in law.

Learning objectives

An intensive post graduate diploma spread over eight modules; this course is designed for those who require an introduction to the discipline of law in a number of core areas. This course is unique in that it integrates the academic theory with the practice of law. Our module tutors are experienced practitioners and are well placed to provide instruction in the various substantive topics of law with the added benefit of being able to relate to the real life practice of law when required.

Assessment & certification

All modules are assessed through a mix of continuous assessment (written assignments and online tasks) and a written examination.

This course is open to non-law graduates from any discipline or suitable non-graduates with a demonstrable level of work experience in the area of law.
