Seminar overview

This one-day seminar, organised by the Fire & Safety Division of Engineers Ireland, will cover a broad range of topics relating to persons involved in fire safety and in fire loss prevention.
Presentations on the day will address a broad range of current fire safety challenges and solutions including: how the fire safety industry is actively meeting the challenges posed by the Building Control (Amendment) Regulations (BCAR); an examination of the self storage unit fire in the Ballymount industrial estate, rainscreen cladding applications and BS 8414; evacuation procedures in hospitals along with an exploration into evacuation modelling software which will provide case study examples of how the technology can be used effectively.
There will also be a presentation on the aftermath of the fire disasters in Bangladesh in 2012/2013 and the subsequent fire safety programme that followed these tragic effects which is being driven by global companies, trade unions and the United Nations.
