PepsiCo Ireland has been awarded the much sought after CPD (Continuing Professional Development) Accredited Employer Standard by Engineers Ireland.

The global food and beverage company, operating here since 1974, has a long tradition of strong commitment to people development. As a result of extensive investment in policies, strategies and programmes for employee development and growth, the Irish facilities are recognised within PepsiCo as leaders in quality, productivity and innovation.

Commenting on the award, John Power, Chartered Engineer and Director General of Engineers Ireland said, “Investment in professional development is essential for engineering organisations to gain a competitive edge and achieve results on both a local and international level. Through its commitment to CPD, PepsiCo Ireland is now considered a centre of excellence within its global operations which is a testament to the value the organisation places on its employees.”

Mr Power added, “I wish to congratulate everybody in PepsiCo Ireland on achieving this significant and highly regarded award.”

Speaking about the award, Joe Burke, Manufacturing Plant Director, PepsiCo Ireland said, “At PepsiCo, we are committed to sustainable growth through empowered people acting with responsibility and building trust. We understand that investment in our people is required to drive innovation as a competitive advantage; not only in our products but in the processes we use to make them. Key to growing and building this capability is to actively encourage the continuing professional development of our people.

"The Engineers Ireland CPD employer standard recognises this and gives us a framework for the professional development, in the first instance, of our technical team, in line with our business strategy.”

PepsiCo has been manufacturing in Little Island, Cork for almost 40 years. A second manufacturing facility was opened in Carrigaline in 2003, and in 2006 the PepsiCo Worldwide Flavours Group established its worldwide headquarters in Cork as well as a regional research and development facility in Little Island, Cork, thereby increasing the company’s scope in Ireland. The global organisation currently employs over 600 people in Ireland providing a broad range of manufacturing and added value business services to PepsiCo.
