International Success Honoured in Engineers Ireland Employer of the Year Award

Dromone Engineering and Abbott Ireland have been named joint winners of the Overall CPD Employer of the Year award at this year’s Engineers Ireland Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Employer of the Year Awards.

This is only the second time in the ten year history of the awards that the judges have elected joint winners.

Abbott Ireland received the top honour for its achievement in developing a CPD framework which accelerated the sharing of ideas and lessons learned across sites in Cavan and Sligo. In addition, Abbott has successfully leveraged CPD to sustain growth and create value in an evolving marketplace.

Dromone Engineering based in Meath also won the top honour for its achievement in taking a strategic approach to CPD which has transformed the business and given Dromone a competitive edge on the international market. The organisation’s commitment to professional development has also contributed to significant revenue generation and growth.

Commenting on the award, Engineers Ireland Director General and Chartered Engineer, John Power said: “The CPD Accredited Employer Standard recognises companies and organisations which implement continuing professional development policies that enable tangible business transformation. Dromone Engineering and Abbott Ireland have excelled in this area and I congratulate both companies on their achievements.

“In the current marketplace, engineering organisations are required to be adaptable and dynamic to gain competitive advantage, create jobs and continue to promote Ireland as a centre of excellence in engineering. The winners this year show how incorporating continuing professional development in the company’s strategic vision helps achieve outstanding results both locally and on an international level.”

Other winners included the Corps of Engineers, Defence Forces which received the award for alignment of CPD policy, committee and strategy, Boston Scientific, Clonmel was awarded for adaptability, creativity and innovation, ComReg won recognition for external learning linkages and Boston Scientific, Galway was awarded for knowledge sharing and knowledge management.

The winners were announced at the 10th annual Engineers Ireland CPD Symposium which took place on Wednesday 2nd October in the Clyde Court Hotel in Dublin.
