    From 6:30 PM
  • Venue
Engineers Ireland, 22 Clyde Road, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4

About the event

Notwithstanding targets and aspirations regarding increasing modal share of sustainable transport modes, roads projects are the most common transportation project to come before the Board and road infrastructure is and will remain essential to transportation within the state, not least because it forms the basic physical infrastructure for most sustainable transport mode networks. How the Board determines road project cases is therefore of interest to transport planners, engineers and other professions involved in the planning, design and construction of such infrastructure.

This review of An Bord Pleanála’s decisions on roads projects will consider trends, if any, that have emerged over the last 10- years; the reasons why decisions have evolved over the period, and any learnings that may be useful to the undertaking of future projects.

The review, which will be supported by an examination of case studies, will be presented by two of the Board’s Senior Planning Inspectors, Ciara Kellett and John Desmond, both of whom work within the Board’s Strategic Infrastructure Development and Environmental Unit.
