The State of Ireland 2019

The State of Ireland 2019

Now in its ninth year, The State of Ireland is an expert-led, action-orientated analysis of our built environment, published by Engineers Ireland. Each year, the report’s findings are based on the deliberations of an advisory group of engineers and related professionals.

2019 scorecard

This year’s report, for the first time, focused on Ireland’s housing which was allocated a ‘D’ grade – highlighting the engineering expert view that the capacity, condition and connectivity of Irish housing is of serious concern and requires immediate action.

Our recommendations include a coordinated approach to land and infrastructure, a roadmap for retrofitting, revitalising our rural towns and villages, and promoting new technology and attractive careers in construction.
