Fire and Safety Division
About
About this Division
The Fire & Safety Division has an estimated 600 members within Engineers Ireland.
Our members come from all industries, with a large number employed in the construction sector. They also work for
- Consultancies
- Local authorities
- Construction contractors
- Insurance firms
- Civil service
- Government departments
- Fire and building control authorities
Members can network with their peers and with representatives from the associated industry groups at events organised by the division.
Health and safety legislation has had a huge impact on the Irish workplace, meaning most engineers are involved with health and safety matters on a daily basis, directly or indirectly.
Members benefit from contacts and networking available through our meetings, presentations and seminars. These courses also contribute to members’ Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
We also run a collegial forum where designers and regulators can mingle and discuss issues that are important to designs, such as Fire Safety Certification.
Who can join?
This network is of particular relevance to those working in the area or studying/ issues related to fire and safety but membership is open to all members of Engineers Ireland.
How to join
If you are already a member of Engineers Ireland, you can join any number of Regions, Divisions and Societies in our Members Area
It is free to join and, once you do, you can:
- Use our discussion forum
- Post comments on articles and blogs
- Join the Contacts Network to locate and send messages to other professionals
Events
We run a series of evening lectures each year to promote the latest thinking in fire safety.
Our member-driven events are prime opportunities to make contacts and network with peers and industry representatives, and advance your Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
The majority of our lectures are broadcast live as webcasts or are available as recordings from the website.
