Mechanical and Manufacturing Division

The Mechanical and Manufacturing Division is a dedicated network for mechanical engineers.

About

About this network

About a quarter of Engineers Ireland’s 25,000 members list mechanical and manufacturing engineering as their area of interest. This division acts as the Institution of Mechanical Engineers RoI Regional Branch committee.

We also provide our members with a professional and social network for learning and developing potential business opportunities. They can network with their peers and with representatives from the associated industry groups at events organised by the division.

Our division works to influence national policy in the sector, acting as representatives at national and international meetings, and offering strategic direction to organisations including:

Who can join?

The Mechanical and Manufacturing Division network is of particular relevance to those working, studying or researching in the mechanical and manufacturing engineering sector.

However, membership is open to all members of Engineers Ireland.

How to join

If you are already a member of Engineers Ireland, you can join any number of Regions, Divisions and Societies in our Members Area

It is free to join our network, and once you join, you can:

We also organise and host the annual general meeting of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers every November.

The majority of our evening lectures are broadcast live as webcasts on Engineers TV or are available to download as recordings from the website.

Events for students and young members

We promote educational outreach in schools, and support initiatives to help students and young members (those within 10 years of graduating) with events including:

  • A paper prize competition for 3rd level students
  • Site visits for 3rd level students (organised by young members with the support of our senior panel)
