Course Aims 

  • Understand the many aspects of Process Safety
  • Learn where to go to find guidance on hazards associated with substances and activities
  • Be aware of (and practice using) various tools for Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment
  • Understand the importance of understanding the Operating, Trip and Design parameters of processes and equipment
  • Understand the importance of identifying and managing the potential initiating events and control measures related to hazard scenarios
  • Understand the role of Hazard Analysis in Land Use Planning & risk reduction decisions
  • Understand the role of Human Factors and Competence in PSM
  • Understand the various aspects of a Safety Management System (& Major Accident Prevention Policy)
  • Understand the importance of Leadership, Safety Culture and ongoing evaluation of the Process Safety Management System

Course Objectives 

On completion of the course, participants will be able to:

  • To give an awareness of and respect for Process Safety
  • To give an understanding of where process safety hazards exist
  • To give in understanding of the tools that can be used to properly assess and manage these risks
  • To give an understanding of the various aspects of a Process Safety Management, Leadership and Culture
  • To give an understanding of the role of Regulations in ensuring public, employee and environmental safety
  • To help learners to appreciate that it is important to “know what they don’t know” about process safety

Who Should Attend?

EHS professionals, engineers and senior management looking to develop a comprehensive understanding of process safety, working in industries involving hazardous materials/processes, the risk of explosion or catastrophic failure. The course content and case studies were selected to represent the broad array of hazardous challenges seen across the spectrum of Irish Industry.

Pre-requisites

Learners should have a basic understanding of process operations, hazard identification and risk assessment.

Trainer Profile

Greg Quinn has 15 years’ experience working in various health and safety and training roles. Currently he is working with Chris Mee Group delivering training in Health & Safety and providing consultancy support. He holds a Higher Diploma in Health and Safety at Work from UCC. Greg has worked with the Chris Mee Group since 2006 and specialises in providing IOSH Managing Safely, IOSH Manging Safely for Construction Managers, IOSH PSCS, IOSH PSDP, CSCS Signing Lighting & Guarding (SLG), CSCS Location of Underground Services (LUGS), QQI (FETAC) Health and Safety at Work, QQI (FETAC) Safety Representatives, and Risk Assessment Training to Chris Mee Group clients.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Confirmation is subject to event fee being finalised. Cancellation fees calculated at 50% of the estimated total bill will be charge for confirmed bookings cancelled less than 5 working days prior to the date of the planned event. A replacement person can attend instead. Cancellations made the day prior to an event will be charged 75% of the total estimated bill. No-shows will be charged the full fee. All cancellations must be confirmed in writing by email. Engineers Ireland will not be liable for any costs in the event of a course being re-scheduled.  This applies, but is not limited, to any travelling, subsistence or consequential expenses incurred by delegates.
