Course overview

This is a one day classroom course with a written evaluation (multiple choice) at the end of the course. 

It details the requirements of HD16 as prescribed by EU Road Infrastructure Safety Management Directive 2008/96/96/EC (S.I. No. 472/2011) and as set out by the TII in CC-STY-04002. It explains the principles of TTM, the process involved in producing an Audit Report from site visits, risk assessments, method statements and the actual TTM layouts. It covers the various legislation and guidance documents governing TTM, the principles of TTM, potential hazards, use of photographs, design parameters and reporting.

Course aim

To deliver appropriate training course to meet the requirements of HD16 for an Inspection Team Member (ITM) to carry out a Temporary Traffic Management Audit (TMA) in accordance with best international practice and relevant legislation. 

Learning  objectives

  1. Explain the need for carrying out a TTM audit, the requirement of HD16 and the legislation as prescribed in Chapter 8 of the Traffic Signs Manual, the Guidance for the Control and Management of Traffic at Road Works and other relevant documents
  2. Train Engineers to interpret and apply the theory behind TTM to the full range of site and road conditions likely to be encountered on Road Authority road works projects and maintenance operations
  3. Provide Engineers with an understanding of the governing legislation and the legal duties of the ITM and other relevant duty holders in the context of TTM auditing of road works projects and road maintenance operations

All Engineers who may have a responsibility for auditing Temporary Traffic Management (TTM) Schemes as part of their civil engineering role.

Confirmation is subject to event fee being finalised. Cancellation fees calculated at 50% of the estimated total bill will be charge for confirmed bookings cancelled less than 5 working days prior to the date of the planned event. A replacement person can attend instead. Cancellations made the day prior to an event will be charged 75% of the total estimated bill. No-shows will be charged the full fee. All cancellations must be confirmed in writing by email. Engineers Ireland will not be liable for any costs in the event of a course being re-scheduled.  This applies, but is not limited, to any travelling, subsistence or consequential expenses incurred by delegates.
