Eurocode 2 is the new design standard for the design of elements in concrete buildings. This course will provide background to the provisions in the code and explain how to apply them to building structures. Practical workshop sessions allow delegates to get to grips with the details and be confident of using Eurocode 2 for real projects. The course will recognise the established practises of BS 8110 and highlight differences and key areas of consideration for the practicing structural engineer.

Who should attend

Consulting Engineers with some experience of designing structures and structural elements. Engineers with practical experience of using BS 8110. Engineer seeking an overview of the code to understand and manage current design standards. Some knowledge of concrete design and Eurocodes 0 and 1 would be useful but not essential. A calculator and pencil are essential, but other required materials will be provided.

Associate, OCSC Consulting Engineers

Paul is a senior associate engineer with over twenty years’ experience in the industry, working on the design of building and civil engineering structures. He has authored two publications regarding the sensitivity of occupied floors to serviceability vibrations. He also authored the Irish National Annex to Eurocode 4. As part of a specialist consultancy unit he assisted in the design of many major UK building projects, particularly in the health sector. He served on the committee responsible for the development of the rules regarding acoustic design in hospitals and is the national representative for Ireland for Eurocode 4.

Paul has worked on many iconic structure in Ireland including the Point Village, The National Convention Centre, The Royal College of Surgeons and the National Paediatric Hospital.

Confirmation is subject to event fee being finalised. Cancellation fees calculated at 50% of the estimated total bill will be charge for confirmed bookings cancelled less than 5 working days prior to the date of the planned event. A replacement person can attend instead. Cancellations made the day prior to an event will be charged 75% of the total estimated bill. No-shows will be charged the full fee. All cancellations must be confirmed in writing by email. Engineers Ireland will not be liable for any costs in the event of a course being re-scheduled.  This applies, but is not limited, to any travelling, subsistence or consequential expenses incurred by delegates.
