KCI Athlone is the global source of AHS product and new products are now being launched out of Athlone.Company R&D is situated in Texas but an important aspect of the work carried out in Athlone is in the whole area of process development.

The Brinny plant is MSD's centre of excellence for the manufacture and quality assurance of it's biotechnology based pharmaceutical products.

NRL is a world-leader in manufacturing pharmaceutical drug substances with over 100,000 employees worldwide and USD 6.4billion invested in R&D in 2007.
NRL, based in Cork, has over 400 employees with engineering staff working in the mechanical, electrical, instrument, process/chemical, automation/process control divisions.
Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics Manufacturing Ltd
With a broad and innovative portfolio of diagnostic and therapeutic solutions, clinical IT and audiology technologies, Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics Manufacturing Limited is one of the world’s largest players in the healthcare industry.
The Dublin site is the company’s primary manufacturing facility producing and supporting complex medical diagnostics analysers for the worldwide market.
Stryker Instruments
Stryker Instruments is a division of Stryker Corporation, and have manufacturing sites, located in Cork, Michigan, Germany and Puerto Rico.
They commenced operations in Ireland in 1998 and are a global technology centre for research and development, and manufacturing of surgical instruments which are used for cutting, drilling burring and shaping of bone and soft tissue during orthopaedic, spine and ENT surgery.

Airtricity
Airtricity is a world leading renewable energy company developing and operating wind farms across Europe.
Both a generator and supplier of electricity and currently supply green electricity to over 38,000 customers in Ireland.
With 14 wind farms in operation throughout Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland and Scotland resulting in almost 400MW.
A further 9 wind farms totalling almost 400MW are under construction with a global pipeline of over 10,000MW.
Bord Gáis Networks
Bord Gáis Networks, a business line within Bord Gáis Éireann, is responsible for the management of the gas pipeline network in Ireland, including interconnectors to the United Kingdom and pipeline in Scotland.
The Natural Gas network serves 140 population centres in 18 counties in Ireland and over 300km of new mains are constructed each year to meet growing demand. The Bord Gáis pipeline is monitored by the national Grid Control Centre at Bord Gáis headquarters in Cork and in the national Gas Control Centre in Dublin.
Carlow Local Authorities
Carlow Local Authorities are the administrative body with responsibility for local government in County Carlow.
They play an active role in the development of the County's industrial, business, social, arts, heritage and cultural affairs.
One of their main projects of note in recent times has been the opening of the Carlow Bypass.
Cavan County Council
Cavan Co. Council has a multi-faceted role in the local community, involving a diverse and complex range of activities, including strategic development of the county’s industrial, business, social, arts, heritage and cultural affairs. Core activities are Planning, Corporate Affairs & Information Services; Roads, Infrastructure, H&S, Town Councils and Cultural Affairs; Community & Enterprise, Social Inclusion & Housing Accommodation; Water Services & Environment; Finance. All in all over 80 services are provided by six engineering areas servicing a population of 64,000.
Clare County Council
As the local authority for County Clare, Clare County Council provides a broad range of services for a population of 110,000.
These services include roads, water, drainage, planning and environmental protection, housing, fire, libraries and burial grounds.
Clare County Council's Mission is to pursue excellence through service delivery and inclusive partnership to advance the social, cultural, economic and environmental development of County Clare.
Commission for Communications Regulation
ComReg is the statutory body responsible for the regulation of the electronic communications sector (telecommunications, radiocommunications and broadcasting transmission) and the postal sector.
ComReg enables competition in the communications sector by facilitating market entry through a general authorisation to provide networks and services and by regulating access to networks so as to develop effective choice for consumers both business and residential.
In a rapidly evolving sector, both in technological and commercial terms, ComReg provides the framework for the introduction of new services such as 3G.
Cork County Council
Cork County Council, including Cork National Roads Office, manages the delivery of local government services in the County of Cork which has a population of 324,767. Services delivered cover eight main programme groups:

Cork University Hospital (Biomedical Engineering Department)
The Biomedical Engineering Department (BME) in the CUH was established in March 1993 to provide an in-house service and maintenance program for medical devices.
The responsibilities of the BME, with 14 engineering professionals, have expanded over the years and it currently has responsibility for the 10,000 electro-medical devices in the HSE-South, Cork-Kerry region.
BME is committed to providing Technical and Clinical Engineering and Managerial expertise to the management of these hospitals in the identification, acquisition, and support of safe, effective, and economical technology as part of a healthcare professional team.
Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food
The Engineering Division of the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food provides an advisory and inspectorial service to the Department and other public bodies. The main activities undertaken include aquaculture and foreshore developments, fishery harbour works and coastal protection works.
Dublin City Council
Dublin City Council is the largest Public Authority in Ireland and employs approx.6,500 staff of whom 283 are Engineers and 87 are Technicians. The Council staff provide 500 different individual services to residents and businesses and has a turnover of approx.€2 billion with 150+ on-site locations on many major projects. The Engineering Teams are spread across a number of Departments including Roads, Projects, Water Services, Sewage & Drainage, Housing, and Fire Services. Engineering disciplines employed include Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, and they are recognised as the leaders in a number of engineering specialities at both a regional and national level.
EirGrid
EirGrid is the independent electricity Transmission System Operator (TSO) in Ireland and the Market Operator in the wholesale electricity trading system.
EirGrid's role is to deliver services to generators, suppliers and customers across the high voltage electricity system, and to put in place the grid infrastructure needed to support Ireland's economy.
ESB Energy International
ESB Energy International is responsible for the non-regulated businesses in the ESB group.
ESBI builds, owns and operates power stations, as well as providing a full range of engineering and consultancy services to client in the power sector worldwide.
With over 1,000 staff, ESBI's expertise covers all aspects of energy projects, from concept to development to operation and maintenance.
ESB Networks (Asset Mgmt / Reg)
ESB Networks builds, operates and maintains a nationwide distribution system which includes 170,000 transformers and almost 150,000 km of distribution networks (i.e. overhead lines and underground cables).
These activities are undertaken by our staff who are located in our thirty four geographical areas throughout the country.
As owners of the nationwide transmission system, we are also responsible for carrying out the construction and maintenance of the high voltage 400kV, 220kV and 110kV transmission system, comprising over 6,500 km of overhead lines and 100 large transmission stations.
Fingal County Council
Fingal County Council was established by statue in 1994 and today it has one of Ireland’s fastest growing populations. Fingal covers an area of 450kms. Approximately 1,400 staff are employed in Fingal County Council of whom 113 are engineering professionals. Organisational Development is a core strand of the Corporate Plan 2010-2014 making CPD a core priority. The HR Department, supports all staff CPD and training, operating under ISO accredited procedures.
Health and Safety Authority
The Health and Safety Authority is the national statutory body with responsibility for enforcing occupational safety and health law, promoting and encouraging accident prevention, and providing information and advice to all companies, organisations and individuals. The Authority is also the national Competent Authority for REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) and other chemicals legislation. The Authority deals with every size of workplace in every economic sector.
Irish Air Corps
The Irish Air Corps is responsible for the operation and management of all military aircraft throughout the state. Today, approximately 850 men and women serve in the Air Corps, each making a unique and significant contribution to fulfilling the roles, both primary and secondary as assigned by government.
Irish Army Corps of Engineers
The Corps of Engineers is responsible for all combat engineering and general engineering matters within the Defence Forces. Engineering originated as a military function and in today's army an Engineer has a most demanding role. He/She must become an expert in combat engineering, and general engineering. Soldiers of the Corps of Engineers all possess a recognised trade, engineering discipline or other specialist skill.
Kerry National Road Design Office (NRDO)
Established in 2002 to assist in the delivery of the objectives of the National Roads Authority Kerry NRDO is tasked with "The planning, design and implementation of improvement works to the national primary road network in Kerry".
Mayo National Roads Design Office
The Mayo National Roads Design Office (Mayo NRDO) was established in 1999 with responsibility for the Project Management of National Road Schemes on behalf of Mayo County Council and the National Roads Authority. The office functions primarily as a design office for the implementation of major new road projects, from conception through planning and compulsory purchase order stage to detailed design, final road construction and closeout. The office is a base for a Regional Road Safety Engineer, and also fulfils a planning function through its input into decision making on planning applications for developments that have an impact on national routes.
Meath County Council
Meath County Council is the primary unit of Local Government in County Meath. Meath County Council is one of the County's major employers, currently employing over 700 staff.
In recent years the Council has moved to a system of area based service delivery through a network of One-Stop Shops at Ashbourne, Duleek, Dunshaughlin, Kells, Navan and Trim as well as through the headquarters

Meteor Mobile Communications was established in 2001 having been awarded Ireland's 3rd mobile licence.
Meteor Mobile Communications is a wholly owned subsidiary of eircom Group plc.
Meteor has enjoyed unprecedented growth in recent years and now has now has over one million customers on its network and 19% market share (September 2008)
Mid West National Road Design Office
In late 1989 Limerick County Council established, with the support of the Department of the Environment and subsequently the National Roads Authority, a specialist Road Design Team to prepare designs for major road schemes in the Limerick area.
National Roads Authority
The National Roads Authority (NRA) was formally established as an independent statutory body under the Roads Act 1993 it’s road development programme forms part of the Government's overall strategy for the improvement of national infrastructure, which is contained in the NDP 2000-2006. The primary function of the National Roads Authority as set out in the Roads Act 1993, is to secure the provision of a safe and efficient network of national roads. The NRA and local authorities act in partnership in developing and maintaining national roads.
Office of Public Works (OPW)
The OPW is first and foremost a service organisation. Its ethos is client focus, timely delivery and value for money. Customers are government, other departments, offices and agencies and, ultimately, the public. Core services are property maintenance, property management, architectural and engineering services, heritage services, project management and procurement services.
South Dublin County Council
South Dublin County Council was formally established on 1st January 1994 & is the 3rd largest Local Authority and the 2nd largest housing agency in the country.
It provides a wide range of services and assistance to a population of over 246,935 people (2006 Census) over an area covering 223 sq. kms.
It has adopted a visionary approach in the provision of services for the community, for staff and elected Councillors
Railway Procurement Agency (RPA)
The Railway Procurement Agency (RPA) was established as an independent Statutory Body by Ministerial Order in 2001. Since its formation the RPA has been responsible for the successful delivery of the Luas system to Dublin. Almost 30 million passengers now use the Luas system every year.
In 2005 the Government introduced a major plan for future transport development-Transport 21-and since then the RPA has been engaged in developing many of the projects within Transport 21 in conjunction with the National Transport Authority. Luas has proven to be a great success and is operated for RPA by Veolia Transport (Ireland) Ltd.
Waterford County Council
One of six major S.E. Local Authorities, Waterford County Council has 580 employees, including 57 engineers/planners/scientists or technicians providing services in Roads & Transportation; Water Services; Environmental Management; Planning & Development; Housing; Emergency Services; Community and Enterprise (incl. Economic Development & Tourism).

Waterford City Council
Waterford is one of the oldest Cities in Ireland and its council, comprising of Mayor and Council is, along with Dublin and London, one of the oldest civic institutions in Western Europe.
