Course aim
The aim of the seminar is to provide an update on the development of Irish Waste Policy and to discuss current and likely future initiatives to meet EU Directives.
Overview
Ireland's waste industry is currently experiencing significant challenges to meet EU landfill diversion targets in 2010, 2013 and 2016. National waste policy over the past ten years has delivered significant improvements in recycling but delivery of energy recovery projects has slowed making the targets increasingly difficult to attain. A national waste policy review has added to the regulatory and economic uncertainty in terms of the need for essential infrastructure.
Learning objectives
The seminar will provide planning, engineering, environmental, economic and communications learning on the development of policy and implementation of integrated waste management in Ireland.
