About the event

This lecture will review the recent successful €14 million rehabilitation of the main runway at Shannon Airport. The lecture will include the various stages of the rehabilitation of runway 06 – 24, from condition survey, design and material choices, whole life cost decisions, procurement approach and all the way through to the construction of the works during very tight night time possession windows. The lecture will also evaluate the use of a NEC contract on the project and identify its advantages and disadvantage over GCCC PWC contracts.

About the speaker

Eoin Colgan Chartered Engineer - Senior Associate with RPS Consulting Engineers
Eoin has over 24 years’ experience in Local Authorities, Design Consultancy and Contracting. He has extensive experience of construction management in large civil and building projects both in Ireland and the USA. He has personally managed €170m of works and been involved in projects with a cumulative value of over €2 billion. During his career he has been involved in projects such as the Dublin Port Tunnel, LUAS, the Venetian Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and the Time Warner Centre in New York City.
