    From 8:00 AM

About the event

The growth of Data Centres is set to continue, and indeed accelerate, as a global phenomenon.  As Ireland continues to build on its reputation as a location of choice for hosting of “Data” and the construction of the consequent “Centres”, this seminar will explore:

  • The reasons why so many of the world’s largest “Hyperscales” (Google, Amazon, Microsoft), “Co Locators” (Equinix, Digital Realty, Interxion) and others continue to invest
  • The key challenges and threats in this fast moving sector, and the key factors required to continue and strengthen Ireland’s competitive position in this arena
  • The key role of the different branches of the Engineering profession (ICT, power supply, building services design, O&M and energy management) in delivering on the opportunity.

About the event partners

Host in Ireland is an industry-led initiative that provides timely and accurate information on Ireland’s digital asset hosting ecosystem, including demonstrating why Ireland is more cost-effective, efficient, reliable, secure and accessible than most other regions across the EU.

There are reasons why companies like Microsoft, Zendesk, Facebook, Twitter, Amazon, Adobe and beyond have sought to host their data in or from Ireland.  These include access to affordable and available power, redundant network and bandwidth capacity, along with positive experiences with a variety of data centre service providers that offer an array of services sustained by the 5 Ps: Policy, People, Pedigree, Pipes, and Power.  The skills and capabilities of a range of engineering disciplines are vital to these services.

With the support of a growing team of partners, Host in Ireland has harnessed the “power of the collective”, fostering an environment of “co-opetition” where competing companies and organizations come together to achieve common goals through cooperation and collaboration.
