About the event

All members are welcome and encouraged to attend this keynote event in the Engineers Ireland calendar as President Peter Quinn gives his Presidential Address discussing the current housing crisis in Ireland.  In the Address he will focus on the principal contributing factors, the key stakeholders and the role of engineers. Geographic factors, infrastructure requirements and predicted population growth will also form part of our President’s keynote speech.

Attendees are asked to arrive from 6:00pm with the Address commencing at 6:30pm.

This will be followed by light refreshments in Café Clyde.

About the President

Peter Quinn Chartered Engineer
Peter is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of Engineers Ireland.  He was award a BSc in Civil Engineering from Queens University Belfast in 1977 and graduated in 1985 with an MSc.  He is Director of P G Quinn Ltd, a civil/structural engineering consultancy in Tyrone. 

He commenced his professional career in Belfast at Cloghan Point Jetty on Whiteabbey Shore Road and on urban motorway construction on Belfast's West-link.  From 1980 to 1982 he managed the earthworks and bridge construction teams on a road project in northern Nigeria.  

On returning to Ireland in 1982, he joined Monaghan County Council where he worked on water, housing and national roads projects as designer, resident engineer and project manager until 2000.  Through part time study Peter graduated from Queens in 1985 with an MSc and was awarded the Chartered Engineer title the same year.  He is a Eur Ing, awarded by FEANI, a Chartered Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers and a Member of the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation.  In 2007, he was awarded Fellowship of Engineers Ireland.
