About the event

This CPD approved lecture will present the lessons learnt in implementing the One Planet Living principles in the development of NW Bicester, the UK’s first eco-town, and at other locations. One Planet Living is Bioregional’s vision of the world where everyone, everywhere can live happy, healthy lives within the limits of our planet, leaving space for wildlife and wilderness.

Bioregional created the One Planet Living framework. It is based on ten intuitive principles which work together to help anyone, anywhere to make truly sustainable living a reality.

About the speaker

Nicole Lazarus - Oxfordshire Programme Manager, Bioregional.
Nicole is a civil engineer, listed in Building Magazine’s Top 50 rising stars of sustainability for 2012 and was a finalist in the Outstanding Women in Construction Awards 2014. She leads a small team of sustainability experts engaged in a growing programme of activities across Oxfordshire and around the Bicester Eco Town.

Bioregional Oxfordshire has a diverse range of experience, from developing community energy schemes through to creating strategic visions for sustainable communities, counties and towns. Nicole's team is currently mapping existing sustainability activities across Oxfordshire using the One Planet Living framework. The aim is to create a cross-sector partnership to make truly sustainable living a reality in the county.  She has also led Bioregional’s work with NW Bicester, the UK’s first eco-town, supporting its sustainability strategy, implementation and monitoring. Alongside this, she and her team also supported Eco-Bicester, a programme with Cherwell District Council, which was designed to ensure that the benefits from the new development at NW Bicester were felt across the existing town.
