About the event

This year's West region CPD evening course explores strategies and infrastructural developments that are driving regional growth in the West.  This CPD event will run over five consecutive Tuesday evenings commencing on February 6th 2018.

With a great line up of 10 speakers, the event covers regional strategy, tourism, transport, water and Energy and Communications. 

The attendance costs are fixed and are listed below, with CPD certificates being issued based on the number of evenings attended by each person.

Evening 1 focuses on Regional Strategy
with two presentations:

"The Atlantic Economic Corridor" by Kenneth Jordan, Department of Rural and Community Development
"National Planning Framework 2017, and the Regional, Spatial and Economic Strategy (RSES)" by David Minton, North West Regional Assembly

Subsequent evenings

Evening 2 on Tuesday 13th February focuses on Tourism
with two presentations:

"The Wild Atlantic Way" by Fiona Monaghan, Fáilte Ireland
"Great Western Greenway" by Padraig Philbin, Mayo County Council

Evening 3 on Tuesday 20th February focuses on Transport
with two presentations:

"M17/M18 Road Project" by Tony Collins, Galway County Council Regional Projects Office
"Galway Transportation Strategy" by Uinsinn Finn, Galway City Council

Evening 4 on Tuesday 27th February focuses on Water
with two presentations:

"South Galway Flood Alleviation"  by David Murray, South Galway Flood Relief Committee
"Galway Drainage Area Plan" by Natalie Doyle Chartered Engineer, Ryan Hanley

Evening 5 on Tuesday 6th March focuses on Energy and Communications
with two presentations:

"AE Connect (transatlantic fibre optic cable)" by Alistair Kissane Chartered Engineer, AquaComms
"Galway Wind Park" by David O'Malley, SSE
