About the event

Capri is a 19-partner consortium led by AECOM, including other public, private and research organisations.  The team is collaborating to deliver a pilot scheme that could pave the way for the practical use of connected and autonomous pods.  In the near future pods are expected to move people around airports, hospitals, business parks, shopping centres and other contained environments. The team is combining expertise and using practical trials to write the blueprint for a viable autonomous MaaS.  https://caprimobility.com/

The project is investigating how pods should be certified within the existing type approval process, developing the sensor and decision systems to support autonomy, trialling how pods should interface with the infrastructure and people around them, and how the pods should be tested within physical and virtual environments.  A business model framework is being developed to assess where, how and when pods could be sustainably deployed.  The project is undertaking three public trials in the UK across 2019 and early 2020.

About the speaker

George Lunt is a Technical Director at AECOM and is the Capri project manager.  He will provide a general introduction to Connected and Autonomous Vehicles, introduce the Capri project and findings to date, and propose how we might see autonomous pods being implemented in the future.
