Purpose of the Role
As a Manufacturing Technician on the Production Team the successful candidate will undertake operations and maintenance of the power plant, and its auxiliary systems, on a shift cycle.  The candidate will bring proven experience as a highly motivated and resourceful technician in the power or process industry. Unsocial working hours and flexibility is a key feature of this position as determined by the changing needs of the business. The main duties are listed but not limited to the below:
Key Responsibilities
To fully partake in a team working environment in the operation and maintenance of the entire power station asset base to meet electricity production schedules in accordance with;
(1) Safety requirements of the power station production process
(2) Environmental requirements of power station production process 
(3) Operating and maintenance procedures as updated from time to time for the power station
(4) Electricity and fuel market processes - related to station operation
(5) Efficient use of all available resources. 
To develop competency in a full range of problem solving, diagnostic and fault finding skills and the level of knowledge, understanding and ability to apply them directly on a day to day basis to help maintain the highest levels of availability, efficiency and reliability of  the power station production process. 
Competency is expected across various disciplines i.e. process, electrical fault finding, mechanical appreciation, instrumentation capability, logic tracing, hazard identification etc.
Both plant operations and maintenance may be part of your normal day.
To develop the ability and responsibility for promoting the safety, health and wellbeing of all persons working in the power plant.
Work to adapt, develop and update operating and maintenance procedures for all the power station assets.
Work to define and implement emergency procedures for the power station.
Support and contribute to the achievement of recognised international standards of the operation, maintenance and environment management systems used by the power plant.
Person Specification
Knowledge and Experience
Must have undergone a time-served apprenticeship and/or a third level qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, C&I or Automation.  
Proven ability to troubleshoot plant faults – covering mechanical, automation, electrical, control and process chemistry.
Proven ability to start-up/shut down/sustain and re-configure process plant.
Sound understanding of DCS components such as Siemens Teleperm XP, Siemens S5/S7, MHI DIASYS or other industry offerings.
To identify and prepare local procedures.
Safety authorisation under a Safe System of Work.
Define and implement required safety, quality and environmental management systems.
The ability to access and optimize the performance of power generation units and associated plant and equipment using basic thermodynamic rules.
Working competency in programming languages such as Visual Basic, JAVA, SQL.
