Become a Project Management Professional (PMP)

PMI’s Project Management Professional (PMP) ® credential is the most important industry-recognised certification for project managers. Together with Engineers Ireland and the Centre of Project Management we will help you take the necessary steps and undertake the required training to sit the PMP examination.


Step 1: Project Management Modular Course - 4 Days
This course is run in conjunction with the Centre for Project Management, University of Limerick and is fully accredited by the PMI.Those completing this programme can claim 35 hours formal project management education, which is one of the pre-requisites for sitting the Project Management Professional Certification exam with the PMI.


Step 2: PMP Preparation Exam Course - 3 Days
This is an intense three-day course leading to delegates sitting the Project Management Professional (PMP) exam with the PMI. This course is aimed at those wishing to gain the qualification and to understand the terminology and principles behind the methods.



Step 3: PMP Exam
To apply for the PMP exam you must first have obtained,a four-year degree (bachelor’s or the global equivalent) and at least three years of project management experience, with 4,500 hours leading and directing projects.

OR

A secondary diploma with at least five years of project management experience, with 7,500 hours leading and directing projects.

Both paths require 35 hours of project management education, which is covered by attending step 1 Project Management 4 day modular course.

If you have passed the above requirements you are now ready to take the exam which you book with the Irish Chapter of the PMI.

Step 1: Project Management Modular Course - 4 Days

Project Management Modular Course (4 days)

This course is the start of the process to achieve Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. It is run in conjunction with the Centre for Project Management, University of Limerick.

Programme
The course consists of two modules, each module lasting two days. Attendance at module 1 is a prerequisite to attending module 2. There is a gap of 4 weeks between modules to allow some application of the techniques after the initial sessions.

Course content is structured against the five key project management phases & processes.

Step 2: PMP Exam Prep Course - 3 Days

Project Management Professional Exam Prep (3 days)

The Project Management Professional (PMP) exam is offered by the Project Management Institute (PMI), who have been acknowledged as pioneers in the field. Their membership represents a truly global community with more than 500,000 professionals, representing 185 countries. The PMP is the profession's most globally recognized and respected credential.

This course provides a comprehensive walk through of all of the PMBOK knowledge and process areas. The programme has been revised and updated in line with the PMBOK 5th edition (2013).

Programme

This is an intense three-day course leading to delegates sitting the Project Management Professional exam with the PMI. This course is aimed at those wishing to gain the qualification and to understand the terminology and principles behind the methods. 

On completion you will:

• Have a thorough understanding of the principles and processes described in the PMBOK.
• Be able to cite the ten essential processes, their sub-processes and where each process fits into the five process groups etc.
• Understand the major tools and techniques described in the PMBOK.
• Be familiar with the type of questions regularly posed in the PMP exam (all sessions are complemented with sets of typical questions).
• Complete a simulation PMP exam at the of the course.
