Training aim

Provides delegates with theory and practice in noise risk assessement to enable them to advise and assist employers and to demonstrate competence in the assessment of workplace noise.

Learning objectives

After completing the course, candidates should be able to:

  • Explain the requirements of current legislation and regulations.
  • Understand the elements of risk assessment,  noise exposure assessment and make satisfactory measurements of noise levels.
  • Assess noise exposure levels of employees.
  • Advise on the components of a Noise Action Plan.
  • Select suitable hearing protection & identify need for noise reduction.
  • Discuss  & assess the effectiveness of noise control techniques.

Course outline

Training is provided in an interactive and engaging format by well-practiced experts.  The course combines practical sessions using acoustic survey equipment  and similuated industrial exposure scenarios where canditates develop their survey and assessement techniques.

The course follows the prescribed Institute of Acoustics (IOA) syllabus and it additionally addresses some of the differences in legal and procedural matters which arise between the UK and Irish jurisdictions.

Candidates are assessed by way of examination and pratical test and on passing are issued with an IOA Certificate of Competence.
