The Organisation

Engineers Ireland is the professional body for engineers and engineering in Ireland. With over 23,000 individual members we are one of the country’s largest professional bodies encompassing all disciplines of engineering across industry, the public service, semi state bodies and academic institutions.

The Role

The Membership team supports the varied and demanding needs of over 23,000 members. We support membership applications and renewals, management of the professional interview process and support for our Regions, Divisions and Societies. In addition we manage a number of key events including member information evenings, training for interviewers and management of various boards such as Membership and Qualifications Board, Board of Examiners etc. Development of new member streams is also a critical aspect of our mandate. This role will initially be for a two year fixed term contract.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Drive the acquisition of new members and retention of existing members
  • Identify new sources of potential member growth, develop acquisition plan
  • Gathering marketing and company information and feeding back to HQ teams
  • Confidently communicate the benefits of membership, counter objections and close the sale.
  • Actively generate membership leads and convert to members
  • Deliver a high quality response to potential members’ requests by phone, email and personal interaction;
  • Ensure accuracy and attention to detail for all communications, both internal and external;
  • Apply same attention to detail for all membership activities;
  • Actively engage with external organisations to prospect for members’ needs (e.g. other professional bodies, colleges);
  • Provide support for membership events and activities.
  • Contribute as part of the Engineers Ireland team to achieving our overall goals and objectives.

Personal Qualities:

  • Very strong sales and influencing skills, with a proven ability to balance multiple campaigns in a busy and challenging environment.
  • Experience in selling at a wide range of events.
  • Excellent level of conscientiousness in all written communications is a key requirement.
  • The ability to review your own performance to meet or exceed targets
  • Ability to confidently discuss and advise on all of Engineers Ireland’s Membership offerings.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships at all levels.
  • Demonstrate a high level of initiative, energy and motivation with a proven history of implementing process improvements.
  • Candidates must have flexibility with regard to working hours. Travel and other associated expenses will be reimbursed.
  • A full clean driving licence and own transport is a requirement.
