Engineers Ireland needs you!

Pursuant to the Bye Laws, a number of vacancies are available to serve on the Council of Engineers Ireland.

The Engineers Ireland’s Council operates under the provisions of our Bye-laws and Code of Ethics. The Council is the governing body of Engineers Ireland and comprises:

  • The President
  • The two Vice Presidents
  • The immediate Past President
  • The Chairman of the Finance Committee
  • The Chairman of the Membership & Qualifications Board
  • The Chairman of the Board of Examiners
  • A representative of each Regional Branch
  • A representative of each Engineering Division
  • Twelve elected Corporate Members of whom:
  • (a) Six hold the title of Chartered Engineer
  • (b) Three hold the title of either Associate Engineer or Engineering Technician and
  • (c) Three hold the academic requirements for, but are not yet holders of the title Chartered Engineer.

In addition, Council may co-opt up to six Corporate Members who in its view are representative of interests not already adequately represented on Council. Three of these must be Chartered Engineers.

All members of Council must be Corporate Members of Engineers Ireland.

Election is for a maximum three-year period and elected members may not serve more than six consecutive years on Council. Council meets up to five times per year.

This notice is to advise that in line with the Bye-Laws of Engineers Ireland, we have eight (8) vacancies on Council for the 2016/2017 sessions. The vacancies are for 8 Corporate Members of whom:

Two (2) - hold the title of  Chartered Engineer
Three (3) - are either Associate Engineers or Engineering Technician members
Three (3) - hold the academic requirements for, but are not yet holders of the title Chartered Engineer.
