Utilising new quantum computing architecture to link up large-scale devices

Researchers have demonstrated directional photon emission, the first step towards extensible quantum interconnects.

How engineers have come up with a new type of shape-memory material

The ceramic-based material could be used for highly efficient actuators within aircraft or for other uses, with minimal moving parts.

Materials science engineers focus on developing new material for computer chips

Members of a multifunctional thin film research group have published two landmark studies that explain how to engineer and enhance the stability of ferroelectric hafnium oxides, which are compatible with mainstream semiconductors. Their research advances ambitions in the semiconductor industry to save energy in computing by co-locating computation and memory elements in an integrated circuit.

Building mathematical models to understand multifaceted, interdisciplinary engineering problems

Guy Bresler builds mathematical models to understand multifaceted, interdisciplinary engineering problems that have far-reaching applications.

Engineers build LEGO-like artificial intelligence chip

The new design is stackable and reconfigurable, for swapping out and building on existing sensors and neural network processors.
