The Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of Chairperson and three Ordinary Member positions on the Pyrite Resolution Board.

Chairperson 

Essential Criteria:

  • Candidates must demonstrate in their application, evidence of experience at an appropriately senior level in the construction profession, with experience in the area of building remediation (experience in pyrite remediation being particularly relevant) and construction project management
  • Be a qualified registered construction professional. eg Building Surveyors on the register maintained by the SCSI under Part 5 of the Building Control Act 2007; or Chartered Engineers on the register maintained by Engineers Ireland under section 7 of the Institution of Civil Engineers of Ireland (Charter Amendment) Act 1969.
  • Previous Board experience or experience of Chairing a Board/Committee.

Desirable:

Relevant demonstrable knowledge or experience of:

  • Building Regulations;
  • Risk identification/risk management in the context of buildings and construction works;
  • Good communication skills

 

Ordinary Member 

Having considered the skills gap analysis undertaken of existing Board members, the Minister now wishes to appoint two members with a technical/engineering background and one member with a finance background. Further vacancies may arise, over time, for members with legal backgrounds. Expertise in compliance/Regulation, audit and risk/risk management and corporate governance is also desirable.

Essential Criteria

Candidates must demonstrate in their application evidence of experience at an appropriately senior level under one of the areas outlined below: -

a. Engineering/Technical experience

  • Experience in the area of building remediation (experience in pyrite remediation being particularly relevant) and construction project management
  • Be a qualified registered construction professional. eg Building Surveyors on the register maintained by the SCSI under Part 5 of the Building Control Act 2007; or Chartered Engineers on the register maintained by Engineers Ireland under section 7 of the Institution of Civil Engineers of Ireland (Charter Amendment) Act 

b. Finance, Audit and Risk Management

  • Financial experience with a particular emphasis on risk management and financial compliance
  • Hold a relevant professional qualification and/or membership of a professional body i.e full membership of a prescribed accountancy body supervised by the Irish Auditing and Accounting Supervisory Authority(IAASA);

c. Legal experience

Applicants for this role must be a Barrister with a minimum of three years relevant experience in the areas of: -

  • Financial Oversight
  • Commercial Law
  • Corporate and Business Management

Desirable

  • demonstrable knowledge of the Building Regulations; 
  • demonstrable knowledge of risk identification/risk management in the context of buildings and construction works; 
  • previous experience of Board membership.
