The National Directorate for Fire and Emergency Management, Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government has issued fire-safety guidance note 01 of 2017, entitled Assessing existing cladding systems in buildings of more than six storeys, or more than 18m in height. The guidance note has been prepared as part of the work of the Fire Safety Task Force, established by Minister for Housing Eoghan Murphy, following the Grenfell fire tragedy in London last year. This guidance is intended to assist persons having control over buildings, their professional advisors and fire services in assessing cladding systems on existing buildings.
