The first eight turbines at Energia’s 95MW Meenadreen wind farm in Ireland’s north west have been installed. 38 Nordex N90/2500s will feature at the €145 million Donegal project once completed later this year. Meenadreen wind farm is currently being constructed at a location between Donegal town and Glenties in south Donegal and will be the largest wind farm in Ireland when completed. Civil works have been carried out by Denis Moriarty while electrical engineering has been tackled by the Kirby Group.

It is expected that turbine installation will continue until September. Nordex will provide a 15-year service deal in addition to the 2.5MW turbines. Energia has a commitment to sustainability and is one of the leading providers of renewable energy to homes and businesses across Ireland, currently supplying over 795 MW of green power. This will shortly increase to 1,000 MW due to a number of wind farms currently in development. Energia has a 23 per cent market share of the Irish business electricity and gas market supplying the energy needs of over 60,000 business customers and operates from offices in Dublin, Galway, Cork, Belfast and Omagh.
