The inaugural Energy in Agriculture event takes place on August 23 at Gurteen Agricultural College, Roscrea. This free event will feature on-farm practical demonstrations of renewable energy installations such as solar PV, wind and biomass. The day will also include talks and case studies on the opportunities and the challenges for farmers with regards to renewable and energy efficiency. An exhibition of relevant suppliers and organisations will also take place. The event will set the scene of what’s currently happening in energy in agriculture in Ireland and will give examples of successful projects in solar photovoltaic, wind and biomass. Key outputs from the conference will be:

  • opportunities for farmers in renewable energy;
  • how farming can be more energy efficient;
  • understand how to finance energy projects;
  • planning and regulatory processes;
  • legal matters for farmers regarding energy projects; and,
  • how to get a grid connection.
