Engineers Ireland have designed the following upcoming courses to ensure engineering professionals are up-to-date with the latest technologies, processes and regulatory requirements enabling them to add greater value to their employers and clients. Fundamentals of Valves & Actuators for Process Control Systems Tuesday, 19 September 2017 This one day CPD course will provide an insight to valve and actuator technology. It will cover check valves, shut-off valves, solenoid valves, regulators, pressure relief valves, control valves, actuators and valve accessories. Delegates will learn how to select the optimal valve size, body and trim materials, components and accessories   Process Control Valves; Sizing, Selection & Application Tuesday, 10th October 2017 This CPD course will review the principles of control valves, actuators, positioners, etc. Valve sizing will be done to ANSI/ISA 75 and IEC 60534 standards for both compressible & incompressible applications.   New course: Introduction to Process Measurement Tuesday, 17 October 2017 This course provides insights to the application of industrial instrumentation, selection, calibration & maintenance. It will focus on relevant techniques and instrumentation used to measure pressure, temperature, level & flow and how these critical measurements interface with the overall control system.   Introduction to Pumps and Pumping Systems Tuesday, 24 October 2017 This course will provide an insight to pump application, selection, operation and maintenance. It is an introductory course that will focus on hydraulic system behaviour, pumps and components within the pumping system and how these are interconnected. Delegates will gain knowledge in understanding pump performance characteristics and how it relates to the overall system. The effects of system and/or changes to energy usage and pump reliability will also be highlighted.   New course: Pumps and Pumping Technology (Intermediate Level) Tuesday, 31 October 2017 This course will provide a review of pump fundamentals & then lead onto how the pump and system interact and their impact on energy efficiency. It is an intermediate course that will focus on hydraulic system behaviour for parallel and series operation, pump drivers and approaches to ensure the highest possible efficiency of the entire pump and motor driven fluid system. Delegates will gain knowledge in understanding pump & driver performance characteristics and how they relate to the overall system effective operation. Consideration will be given to ISO 14414 and ASME EA-2 2009 and how they provide guidelines for conducting and reporting the results of a pumping system   New course: Intro to the Industrial Steam and Condensate System Tuesday, 28 November 2017 This course will provide an insight to Industrial Steam and Condensate System application, selection, operation and maintenance. It is an introductory course that will focus on Industrial Steam and Condensate System behaviour, steam traps and components within the system and how these are interconnected. Delegates will gain knowledge in understanding the steam cycle and how it relates to overall process system effectiveness and identify and understand the key components of a steam distribution system.   New course: Essentials of Pressure Relief Safety Valves Tuesday, 5 December 2017 This course will provide an insight to pressure safety relief valves application, selection, operation and maintenance. It is a course that will focus on the fundamentals of pressure relief valve operation, design, sizing and selection, rupture discs, installation, operation and maintenance. Delegates will gain knowledge in understanding safety relief valves performance and how the correct sizing, installation and operation of these valves effects the overalls safety integrity of the system.
