Dr John Tierney, Managing Director of Irish Water, has been added to the stellar speaker line-up at Engineers Ireland’s Annual Conference, which takes place on 6 June. The former Dublin City Manager is set to speak about the new organisation, as it prepares to begin the complex task of merging more than 30 water authorities and charging consumers for water usage for the first time. Tierney took up his three-year post just last month and the Engineers Ireland conference marks his first official public appearance as the first chief of Irish Water. This year’s theme is Building Ireland’s Business Networks – Driving Competitive Advantage. The conference will investigate the role that engineers play in delivering public services and building the infrastructure necessary to facilitate business on a nationwide scale, as well as allowing the free movement, of people, goods and services. Speakers from Ireland’s leading transport companies will then examine the role of ports, roads, rail and airports in providing the backbone of Ireland’s business infrastructure and the day finishes with insights from key decision-makers in Ireland’s energy industry.
