CORK: CE Marking of Structural Steelwork - 1 PLACE REMAINING
Course aim
The aim of this programme is to equip candidates with the knowledge to fully understand the technical requirements and guidance on how they can ensure contracts are constructed in line with legislation and best practice.
Overview
Under the CPR, all products used in construction must now have CE Marking to demonstrate compliance with the harmonised standard. All mainstream construction products are covered by harmonised standards and must therefore be CE Marked.
For fabricated structural steelwork, engineers, contractors and steelwork contractors should have amended their specifications accordingly to ensure only CE Marked products are used on their projects.
Learning objectives
After the course, the participants should be able to:

Understand the requirements of CE Marking of structural steelwork

Understand the content of a range of technical documentation and be able to assess such documentation for compliance.

Be in a position to develop contract specifications to ensure compliance with the Construction Production Regulation.

Interpret welding procedure specifications (WPS) welding procedure qualification records (WPQR) and welder qualification test certificates (WQTC).

Understand the terminology used in welding, testing, quality assurance and quality control.

Appreciate the need for welding communication including the correct use of weld symbols and their advantages and limitations.

The course is aimed at Structural Engineers, Project Engineers and Quality Managers who work in the structural steelwork industry.
Trainer’s profile
Mr. Gerry McCarthy, BEng, MSc, CEng, MWeldI, MIEI, International Welding Engineer.
Gerry has over 30 year’s structural steelwork experience in various sectors. His experience profile extends to construction, design, welding, quality and CE marking requirements. Gerry has successfully assisted several steelwork contractors achieve certification to EN 1090-1. This is achieved through a combination of mentoring, training and consultancy.
Gerry has a BEng degree from the University of Limerick, an MSc degree from the University of Strathclyde in Scotland and an IWE diploma from the GSI SLV in Duisburg, Germany. He is also a qualified lead quality auditor for ISO 9001 and a certified weld inspector. He is a Chartered Engineer and a Chartered Member of the Welding Institute.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Confirmation is subject to event fee being finalised. Cancellation fees calculated at 50% of the estimated total bill will be charge for confirmed bookings cancelled less than 5 working days prior to the date of the planned event. A replacement person can attend instead. Cancellations made the day prior to an event will be charged 75% of the total estimated bill. No-shows will be charged the full fee. All cancellations must be confirmed in writing by email. Engineers Ireland will not be liable for any costs in the event of a course being re-scheduled. This applies, but is not limited, to any travelling, subsistence or consequential expenses incurred by delegates.
