About the Event

The Support Scheme for Renewable Heat (SSRH) will open for biomass applications in early 2019. This breakfast briefing will provide a broad overview of the SSRH, details of the related biomass practitioners register and wood fuel quality management scheme developed by IrBEA and also provide a brief introduction to the engineering design principles of biomass heating systems.


8.20am: Ray Langton, Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland. 
Ray will provide an overview of the Support Scheme for Renewable Heat. 

8.45am: Sean Finan, IrBEA
Sean will outline the IrBEA Wood Fuel Quality Assurance scheme and the Biomass Designers & Installers Register.

9.10am: Ciaran Miller, Clearpower
Ciaran will discuss some of the design fundamentals which should be considered when developing a biomass heating project.

9.30am: Open Forum

About the Speakers

Ray Langton is the Program Manager of the Support Scheme for Renewable Heat (SSRH) in the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI). Ray joined SEAI in 2017 after working on the new Central Bank Headquarters project. He has a background in Brewing and Pharma Operations, Governance, Sustainability, Projects and Change Management.

Seán Finan, Chartered Engineer
Sean is CEO of the Irish Bioenergy Association (IrBEA).  Prior to joining IrBEA, Sean spent over 12 years with John Sisk & Son Ltd. He took a two-year secondment from Sisk between 2015 and 2017 to complete a term as National President of Macra na Feirme. Sean is a Chartered Engineer with a Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering from National University of Ireland, Galway.

Ciaran Miller, Chartered Engineer
Ciaran is Design Manager with Clearpower. Ciaran holds a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering and MSc in Renewable Energy & Energy Management. He is a Chartered Engineer and joined Clearpower in 2013 after having worked on energy projects for RPS Consulting Engineers and Fingleton White & Co.
