About the event

Improving Ireland's Building Stock is the theme of the 2013 four-lecture CPD series.  Whilst the building industry has been quiet over the last number of years, there has been much focus on improving the regulatory regime for building design, building construction and building materials. There have also been a number of developments in relation to improving the energy efficiency of both existing housing stock and of new builds. This year’s CPD series will address all of these issues.

In this, the last of four lectures, the topic of Passive Housing will be explored by Trevor Hickey from the University of Limerick providing a brief overview of the Passivhaus standard and the criteria necessary to achieve certification. It will also look at the systems used to achieve the Passivhaus standard in the Irish context.
