About the event

In this presentation Alan Kiernan discusses the principles of Flood Risk Assessments (FRA’s) and the process around putting a Flood Risk Assessment together. Case studies will be used to demonstrate where Flood Risk Assessments have been used to inform development design and Section 50 applications.

About the speaker

Alan Kiernan has an honours degree in Environmental Science from IT Sligo and a Post Grad Diploma in Environmental Engineering from Trinity College, Dublin. He has worked for 18 years in Environmental Licensing and Enforcement, Contaminated Land and Flood Risk Assessment (FRA) with Cavan and Galway County Councils, OHES and ORS. He now heads up the Environmental Team at ORS in Mullingar where he has prepared FRA’s for residential, commercial and industrial developments and to accompany Section 50 applications to the Office of Public Works (OPW).
