About the event

An evening with the President where Peter Quinn delivers his Presidential Address to members in the region.  In his Address Peter discusses the current housing crisis in Ireland, focusing on the principal contributing factors, the key stakeholders and the role that engineers can play in alleviating the problem. Geographic factors, infrastructure requirements and predicted population growth will also be discussed in this most topical of presentations.

The Address will be followed by the conferring of Registered Professional Titles by the President on members in the region who were successful in achieving the titles during the course of the year.

There will be a finger food reception following the conferring where attendees can network and meet with the President. 

About the President

Peter Quinn Chartered Engineer
Peter is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of Engineers Ireland.  He is a Civil Engineering graduate of Queens University Belfast and is currently Director of P G Quinn Ltd, a civil/structural engineering consultancy in Tyrone. 

He commenced his professional career in Belfast at Cloghan Point Jetty on Whiteabbey Shore Road and on urban motorway construction on Belfast's West-link.  From 1980 to 1982 he managed the earthworks and bridge construction teams on a road project in northern Nigeria.  

On returning to Ireland in 1982, he joined Monaghan County Council where he worked on water, housing and national roads projects as designer, resident engineer and project manager until 2000.  Through part time study Peter graduated from Queens in 1985 with an MSc and was awarded the Chartered Engineer title the same year.  He is a Eur Ing, awarded by FEANI, a Chartered Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers and a Member of the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation.  In 2007, he was awarded Fellowship of Engineers Ireland.
