About the event

Diversity through education is key to success. This Conference will provide access information to all levels of education in Northern Ireland from educators specifically tailored for the Eastern European ethnic minority community. This will provide further integration through information on how to upskill and embed the ethnic minority communities within the workforce.  


5:00 - Arrival and Registration

5:30-5:50pm - “Active Learning in UK Higher Education” Professor Paul Bartholomew, PVC for Education, Ulster University

5:50-6:10pm - “European Qualifications” Roisin McEvoy, Head of Admissions, Ulster University.

6:10pm-6:25pm – “STEM Jobs and access to Engineering” Dr. Robert Eadie, Chair of Engineers Ireland, Northern Region

6:25-6:30pm – “Experience as an Ethnic Minority Student at Ulster University” Mateusz Dabkowski

6:30-6:50pm – “ESOL and Access to the Further Education System”, Beverly Harrison, Director, Department of Education.

6:50-7:10pm – “Reflections on Post-Primary Education” Dr Francis Vasey, Principal, Grosvenor Grammar School, Belfast and Maire Thompson Principal Malone College.

7:10-7:20 “First Bulgarian School Ivan Vazov: A Case Study” Valentina Stefanova, Principal, Ivan Vazov Bulgarian School

7:20-7:30 “European Collaboration and Erasmus+ Showcase” Kevin O’Neil Principal, St Colman's Primary School, Annaclone.

A Question time with the panel will follow (Closing at 8:30pm)  


Admission is free and all are welcome.  Advance booking is however required and must be made using the link provided.

This event is held over two days and on January 6th Lachezar Gudev will present on “The Bulgarian contribution to World Education - Suggestopedia. A superior teaching method and a beginning of a new humanistic culture according to UNESCO”.
