Irish chartered civil engineer Alan Grady has developed and launched a mobile application that is designed to make engineers’ lives a lot easier. ‘Levels Made Easy’ is an Irish civil engineering app for engineers, surveyors, builders and anyone in the construction industry who needs to give or take levels using the traditional dumpy level (site level) and staff. It aims to eliminate the tedious task of 'reducing' the levels manually (or typing into Excel) and, as a result, eliminates the risk of errors in the calculations. It also stores stations/benchmarks as ‘known levels’, so users will always have these values close at hand and will never need to search in a survey book for the station values again. “Whether simply transferring a level from one point to another or setting a line of levels with 1000+ readings, ‘Levels Made Easy’ will speed up the process,” Grady told EngineersJournal.ie. “Once you’ve finished your survey, you can export the data to an Excel file and send to your desktop for either recording purposes or to use the reduced levels for further calculations.” “I designed the app to help site engineers save time and to reduce the common and costly levelling errors that are made on construction sites,” he added. The screenshots give an example of the simple design and user interface. There are 100 promo codes available for any one who is willing to review the app on iPhone.
