With a need for improved tech literacy and an ever-changing IT landscape, Engineers Ireland and Code Institute have teamed up to offer engineers the chance to accelerate their IT abilities in today's digital age. From today, Engineers Ireland will be making Code Institute's Diploma in Tech Fundamentals (DITF) available from the Engineers Ireland web portal. As part of this collaboration, prices have been reduced by €100 for members of Engineers Ireland who wish to upskill their IT knowledge. The Code Institute's DITF course will teach engineers how to leverage the benefits of big data and the cloud. It will improve communications between engineers, IT teams and other tech colleagues.

Core principles of coding

As part of the course, participating engineers will grasp the core principles of coding. They will also put themselves in a position to make more effective decisions by understanding development processes, skills, languages and IT tools on the IT side of upcoming projects. Jim Cassidy, CEO of Code Institute, said: "Partnering with Engineers Ireland is a huge honour for us. It is great to be recognised as one of the education providers who can contribute to the development of the competences of a chartered engineer.” Dee Kehoe, CPD director at Engineers Ireland, said: “Engineers Ireland is delighted to partner with the Code Institute to provide our members with the opportunity to undertake this new Diploma in Tech Fundamentals and further their IT skills and abilities. Digital technologies play an increasingly important part in the role of the engineer and will continue to impact the engineering sector.” You can learn more and sign up for the Diploma in Tech Fundamentals on the Engineers Ireland website.
