Training aim

On completion of this course candidates will become proficient in the creation of parts & assemblies, create tool paths and free hand model of moderate complexity and how to document and showcase their design.

Learning objectives

For candidates who attend the course to receive a through introduction to Fusion 360, become familiar with the user interface and commands, use the software to create models of parts and assemblies. As well as the ability to document their process and showcase their designs.

Session 1: Introduction to Fusion 360, Projects and Data Management, Fusion user interface, Introduction to Sketching Session 2: Sketching, Modelling, Components and bodies, Design History and Editing, Quick Key and Shortcuts Session 3: Assemblies, Free form Modelling, Introduction to CAM Session 4: CAM, Simulation, Post Processor, 3D Printing Session 5: Fusion Teams, Collaborating and Sharing 

Trainer's profile

Brian Fagan's education and experience: 20 years in industry across automotive, aerospace and medical sectors. He is a Qualified Toolmaker since 2008, as well as being an expert in CAM using 3, 4 and 5 axis simultaneous CNC machines. Brain has experience in turning, grinding and bending machines. He has been responsible for setup and managed CNC workshop within multinational organisations, jigs and fixture design. His work experience includes 10 years manufacture experience plus using Inventor/ Solidwork/ Creo Product designer for medical devices. Brian obtained a Bsc Manufacturing Management degree Fusion 360 Expert and certified Inventor certified, AutoCAD certified and is MAKE specialization certified.

Course duration

10 hours spread over 5 days with a 2-hour session per day (online) OR 2 full days (in person)

Assessment & certification

Symetri is an Autodesk Authorised Training Centre. At the end of the course the candidates will receive their Autodesk Certificate of Completion. There is the option to go on to complete the Fusion Autodesk Certified User Exam.

Who should attend

Fusion 360 is a 3D design parametric software. This course is designed for people who have interest with engineering and manufacturing and has a passion for designing would benefit from this course. Fusion 360 has many elements including design, animation, simulation, machining, and 3D printing and can be used across a wide variety of industries. No previous CAD training is required.
