Ireland's medtech industry is growing and this is creating exciting new opportunities for job seekers. With over 27,000 people already working in the sector, Ireland is the highest medtech employer, per capita, in Europe. The latest survey by the Irish Medical Device Association (IMDA), the Ibec group which represents the sector, shows that six out of ten companies are looking to hire quality engineers. As many as 82 per cent of people who have gotten the skills they need from the Government funded Springboard and Certificate in Quality Engineering (QQI Level 8) course, now have vital work experience in the sector. John Nunan took part in the University of Limericks’ accredited Certificate in Quality Engineering programme with the IMDA. As part of his internship John was paired with a mentor. He was tasked with reviewing BMR’s Risk Management Standard Operating Procedure in relation to the 2012 version of the Risk Management Standard ISO14971. John now works as part of the quality team in Bio-Medical Research (BMR). This course commences Monday January 18, 2016 in the Maldron Hotel, Oranmore, Co Galway.
