As Chinese automaker BYD continues to scale its electric 4X4 portfolio, newly released specifications for the upcoming Sealion 06 EV highlight a meaningful upgrade in both battery capacity and driving range.
The new model will offer Blade (lithium iron phosphate) battery options of 75.6kWh and 82.7kWh, delivering a claimed CLTC range of approximately 620km and 710km, respectively. By comparison, the current Sealion 06 EV is equipped with 65.3kWh and 78.7kWh Blade battery packs, which provide an official CLTC driving range of 520km and 605km.

The updated configurations, therefore, represent a notable improvement in both energy storage and real-world usability, reinforcing BYD’s strategy of pushing longer range and improved efficiency across its next generation of electric vehicles.
Performance takes a major step forward in BYD’s latest Sealion 06 EV update, with the automaker significantly enhancing the vehicle’s electric motor output. The new configuration raises maximum power to 270kW, up from the current 170kW and 180kW variants – representing an increase of up to 90kW.
This substantial gain places the Sealion 06 in a higher performance tier within the midsize electric 4X4 segment. The upgraded model also posts a top speed of about 210km/h, underscoring BYD’s focus on pairing long-range capability with stronger acceleration and highway performance.
Depending on the battery configuration, the Sealion 06 carries a curb weight of approximately 4,497lb (2,040kg) and 4,586lb, while the battery packs themselves weigh about 1,187lb and 1,259lb, respectively.
Despite the mechanical upgrades, the Sealion 06 retains the same exterior design and overall dimensions as the outgoing model, measuring 189.4in in length, 75.6in in width, and 65.9in in height, with a 111.0in wheelbase.
Sealion 06 posts fourth straight month above 30,000 sales
Sales momentum for BYD’s Sealion 06 continues to build, with combined EV and PHEV deliveries reaching 35,081 units in November. The result marks the fourth straight month above 30,000 units, following 30,483 units in August, 30,901 in September, and 33,200 in October.
The sustained growth highlights the Sealion 06 as one of BYD’s strongest-performing nameplates in the competitive midsize SUV category, driven by expanding powertrain options, rising brand recognition, and growing demand for electrified vehicles across China’s mass market.
Within BYD’s Ocean series portfolio, the Sealion 06 represented a significant share of November performance, contributing 15% of total series sales. Of that total, 17,458 units were attributed to the EV variant, which accounted for 69.6% of Sealion 06 deliveries for the month.
Since its market debut in July 2025, cumulative sales of the Sealion 06 have now reached 134,665 units, underscoring the model’s rapid market penetration and growing importance within BYD’s broader electrification strategy.
Recently, BYD also surpassed Tesla in annual electric vehicle sales. The Chinese automaker noted that its battery-powered vehicle deliveries increased nearly 28% in 2025, totalling 2.26 million units.
By comparison, Tesla reported 1.64 million global deliveries over the same period. The figures reflect BYD’s steady expansion and rising share in the global electric vehicle market.
