Organisation profile

HomeBond was set up in 1978 to provide structural defects insurance to purchasers of new homes. To date over 650,000 homes have been registered with HomeBond. The company’s core function has been the provision of structural defects cover for purchasers of new homes, with a complementary focus on improving the general overall quality of residential construction in Ireland through advising, educating and training builders, building professionals and other interested parties.

Training aim

This one day course provides attendees with an insight into the building defects investigation process and the four key steps of defect investigation, analysis, diagnosis and prognosis.

Trainer's profile

The Course Director Conor Taaffe holds a Bachelor and Master’s Degrees in Civil Engineering from UCD and TCD, postgraduate diploma qualifications in Civil Engineering and administration from TCD and the IPA and also holds a Diploma in Legal Studies and Barrister at Law degree from The Honourable Society of King’s Inns. Conor joined HomeBond in 1994. Conor is also a course tutor, a number of other experienced tutors will also lecture on this course.

Assessment & certification

The assessment will take the form of a Multiple Choice Question exam at the end of the each module. 1 CPD Hour
