Cities of the Future is the 2024 IMAX feature film, narrated by John Krasinski.

To celebrate Engineer's Week Curious Minds, SEAI and ESERO Ireland will be hosting a webinar series "Engineering Inspiration". This will take place from 3rd - 6th March at 10 - 10.20am and will be aimed at Senior Primary School students (3rd - 6th Class).

Schools can simply log in through Zoom and discover what engineering is all about. Students will also get the opportunity to ask questions directly to the speakers.

Each day we will spotlight a different type of engineering, and we will have a complementary activity booklet students can complete throughout the week. These webinars will be recorded and available online to allow for flexible viewing.

Inviting an Engineer to your school can be a memorable and inspiring experience for students, some of whom may not have ever met an engineers or know the diverse nature of the career.

To invite an Engineer to your school, we recommend:

1. Ask a parent engineer in the school if they would be happy to visit the school. (They may not want to themselves - but could help you find someone suitable.)
2. If there are no parents, find a local Engineering Organisation to approach. You could try one of the Engineers Ireland CPD Accredited Employers, where part of their remit is to encourage their staff to engage in outreach.
3. Email the company inviting them to visit your school. Explain what format you had planned and the Child Safeguarding policies. If you like you can edit/customise the sample Email template (available here) and attach the Engineers Week flyer (available here) to it, as they may not be familiar with the campaign.
4. Don't forget to include that the Engineers Ireland STEPS Programme co-ordinates the week and can assist with resources and supports, including sample presentations, activity ideas and tips through the Engineers Week website.

STEPS ran an Information Session Week in January with Engineers Week Expert Guest Speakers. Muinteoir Valerie was the Guest Speaker for the Primary School session. She discussed many hand-ons engineering activities for primary school students, from easy to elaborate.

To celebrate Ireland's new status as an Associate Member of CERN, this year for Engineers Week we encourage you to explore with your class the fantastical world of the teeniest-tiny things that require the most massive amounts of energy and space to be found.

Did you know that the majority of CERN employees are Engineers? At this world renouned centre of cutting-edge science, where the internet was invented as a by-product 'to make things easier', you would think most people working there would be physicists. But physicists need a huge team of Engineers to allow them put their theories into action and ensure their experiments are working as designed.

These school resources developed by CERN are perfect to introduce young students to the exhilerating world of life on the cutting edge of the fundamental.
