To give Engineers Ireland members an understanding and appreciation of Passive Optical Networks, which offer proven economical, green, future proof, security and reliability benefits over traditional LAN solutions.
After attending the course, delegates will be competent in the following:
Discussing the architecture and benefits of Passive Optical Network solutions with clients
Designing Passive Optical Networks for clients’ requirements.
Discussing the technology and componentry which forms passive optical networks.
The course begins by giving the background to Passive Optical Networks, which have been in existence for 12 years, and developed for the enterprise market.
It then follows through PON architecture, and the benefits of using PON solutions, and then the components required to put a PON together.
There are many discussions that are generated from this initial course, and it is usually followed up by a more detailed meeting relating to design and CapEx & OpEx savings on particular projects.
Andrew Butler is Temple's Technical Manager. An experienced technical consultant with a proven track record within B2B, professional services, IT integration and commercial market sectors.
Andrew is a Cisco CCNA and continues to keep his accreditations, although not working with the Cisco portfolio. When discussing PON solutions with clients, Andrew must be fully versed on the latest developments from the “traditional” LAN equipment manufacturers.
The course normally runs for 45 – 60 mins.
