The COVID-19 outbreak has decimated the world’s economy in a manner not seen in living memory. Governments around the world are responding with unprecedented emergency aid and stimulus packages to ensure that this recession does not transition into a global depression.

Numerous economic studies have shown that investing in infrastructure can be an effective means to get a nation’s finances back on track after a recession.

This short seminar will focus on the need for the UK and Irish governments to maintain and expand their budgetary allocation for capital expenditure. In addition, this seminar will consider the role of private sector financing for national projects – and the most appropriate mechanism for private investment.
