P&O Maritime is seeking to recruit an Engineering Technical Assistant.

In Ireland, P&O Maritime Services Ireland Ltd operates two research vessels on behalf of the Marine Institute.
About the role
The Engineering Technical Assistant will assist an in-house team of engineering support personnel in the design and development of projects and will co-ordinate the day-to-day activities of the engineering department as required.
The Engineering Technical Assistant will help with the creation and modification of engineering drawings. Other responsibilities include the upkeep, repair, design, installation, manufacture and modification of vessel or vessel related equipment and purchasing cover as required.
Qualifications and experience
- Qualified in Inventor/Solid Works and 2D and 3D CAD Software and demonstrate proficiency;
- Third level qualification in mechanical engineering or similar is essential;
- Minimum three years’ experience in structural and mechanical design;
- Workshop, fabrication and administration experience is required;
- Ability to deliver high-quality engineering projects, to agreed timelines and budgetary allocations;
- An interest in marine engineering and the maritime sector;
- A desire to embrace new and innovative projects and an ability to quickly understand new technologies;
- Demonstrated experience in co-ordinating and leading a team;
- A good working knowledge of the MS Office suite and be computer literate;
- Excellent IT, administrative communication and organisational skills;
- Flexibility with a willingness to travel and work outside normal office hours, if required.
