AtkinsRéalis, the engineering services and nuclear company, has announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire TOBIN, the Irish engineering and project management consultancy.
Ambitious programme of infrastructure development
AtkinsRéalis has a long-standing presence in Ireland, delivering across transport, water, energy and the built environment for more than 25 years, with Irish headquarters in Dublin and offices in Cork, Galway and Dundalk.
The acquisition supports AtkinsRéalis’ growth strategy in Ireland, further strengthening its local footprint to more than 700 employees and bolstering its capabilities to support Ireland’s ambitious programme of infrastructure development.
TOBIN has a 70‑year legacy of delivering big projects across Ireland, with headquarters in Galway and about 200 employees across five offices including Dublin, Castlebar, Limerick and Sligo. Founded in 1952, TOBIN’s multidisciplinary expertise spans civil and structural engineering, water and utilities, environmental and planning services, transport, and quantity surveying.

Multidisciplinary design
AtkinsRéalis has a long‑standing presence in Ireland delivering significant regional and national programmes including multidisciplinary design for two of Iarnród Éireann (Irish Rail) flagship rail schemes (DART+ West and DART+ South West); engineering, planning and project management for EirGrid’s ambitious electricity transmission investment programme; design of the M28 motorway strengthening access to the Port of Cork; strengthening water security and resilience on the Water Supply Project for Uisce Éireann (Irish Water); and a longstanding relationship with daa to support the upgrade of buildings and infrastructure at Dublin Airport.
TOBIN has operated across both the private and public sectors in Ireland for over seven decades delivering large scale projects and programmes in a sustainable manner.
More recently, TOBIN has delivered a central and enduring role in the Water Supply Project for the eastern and midlands region on behalf of Uisce Éireann, one of the state’s most significant water infrastructure projects.
It has delivered onshore environmental consultancy for the Codling Wind Park transmission infrastructure on behalf of Codling Wind Park, supporting a 1.3GW offshore renewable energy scheme. TOBIN has also delivered full lifecycle consultancy for the redevelopment of Dexcom Stadium on behalf of Connacht Rugby (Rugbaí Chonnacht).
