STEPS are looking for engineers to visit a primary school taking part in the STEPS Young Engineers Award.

The STEPS Young Engineers Award is STEPS Primary School initiative to introduce engineering to children at a young age (8-10, third and fourth class). It is a project-style competition where the young students come up with an engineering solution to improve their community. Studies have shown that reaching children at this age helps to break barriers and to prevent early bias developing.

The STEPS Volunteer Engineer Programme is aligned with the STEPS Young Engineers Award. Engineers visit a school in late November to listen to the children’s project showcase and give encouraging feedback – teachers feedback is that this is the most exciting part of the programme for the children.

To volunteer with STEPS you must attend ONE 1.5hr workshop, taking place on the week of September 4. You can attend this to find out more about the programme with no obligation.

Here is the link to register for a workshop. There are many dates and times available on the week. However, if they don’t suit, please get in touch.
