Farm Fayre (www.farmfayre.com), an Irish agtech company headquartered in Co Kilkenny, announced the launch of its groundbreaking sales platform designed to revolutionise the way Irish farmers buy and sell livestock.

The online platform offers farmers a safe, convenient, transparent, and sustainable ecosystem for the sale and purchase of livestock.

The announcement comes ahead of the 2023 National Ploughing Championship (September 19-21), where Farm Fayre will be showcasing its platform in Enterprise Ireland’s Innovation Arena.

Sellers list their livestock on the Farm Fayre platform complete with all essential details (breed, weight, etc) and high-quality images and videos, to empower buyers to make fully informed decisions. Sellers also set their own pricing levels.

Fully transparent environment

Buyers can explore the listings, at their convenience, and bid in a fully transparent environment, with all bids visible in real time. Once the highest bid crosses the reserve price, the livestock is sold. Payment is securely transferred to an escrow account via Trustap.

After payment is confirmed, Maxboley Haulage, of Farm Fayre's 'Trusted Haulier Network', notifies both the seller and buyer about collection and delivery times. Livestock are then collected and delivered from field to field, with their weight verified en route. If no issues are raised within 24 hours of delivery, the funds are released to the seller, completing the transaction.

Kevin O’Connor, CEO and co-founder, Farm Fayre, said: "We are delighted to formally launch our field-to-field livestock sales solution merging the best of community-based farming with the latest technology. Farm Fayre is designed to empower farmers, who sell millions of cattle annually in Ireland, by putting the 'old market fayre' into their hands and on their farms so they can buy and sell in absolute confidence.

“Farmers can buy or sell in minutes, right from their field. With Farm Fayre, they can be confident that their funds and livestock are always safe, and that the livestock will be collected and delivered at their convenience.

Seasoned industry arbitrators

"Farm Fayre stands by a straightforward commitment, the buyer receives what was promised, and the seller is promptly paid. Should any issues arise, seasoned industry arbitrators are on standby to swiftly resolve them, guaranteeing equitable outcomes for all parties.

“At Farm Fayre we are setting the gold standard in safety, convenience, transparency, sustainability, and biosecurity, effectively eliminating the risks and frictions previously associated with dealing with unknown parties."

Earlier this year Farm Fayre completed the 2022 AgTechUCD Agccelerator Programme run by the AgTechUCD Innovation Centre at UCD Lyons Farm for early-stage startups in the agtech, agrifood, equine and veterinary sectors, and who have ambition to grow globally. The application process for the next 12-week hybrid programme, which starts in mid-October, is currently open.

Kevin O'Connor said: "For Farm Fayre the outcomes and learnings from attending last year’s AgTechUCD Agccelerator Programme far exceeded our time inputs. Coupled with the priority access to excellent mentors and the investment community, I highly recommend this programme to any early-stage agtech related venture, with limited time and resources. It’s a must do.”

The sponsors of the 2023 AgTechUCD Agccelerator Programme are; AIB, FBD Insurance, Ornua and the Yield Lab.

The Enterprise Ireland Innovation Arena will be providing more than 50 companies from the agri sector, including Farm Fayre, with the opportunity to showcase their pioneering innovations to some 300,000 visitors expected to visit the 2023 National Ploughing Championships at Ratheniska, Co Laois.
